How do you respond when people you love and trust attack you?

We can often handle attacks when they come from those who are the sworn enemies of Christ. But it is altogether different when they come from people who are close to us – colleagues, fellow church members or even members of our families. Jesus said, “A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.” Knowing this, we should be ready for such misrepresentations. Ask God to strengthen you to respond as His child when others misrepresent or even slander you. Even more, watch yourself and take care not to become guilty of envy yourself. Truly great or strong people do not constantly defend themselves.

Lord, help me to be silence when my own status is attacked, but help me to speak when You need to be honored.
