Balaam’s Stubbornness

Numbers 22

Numbers 22:6 “A people have come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and have settled next to me. Now come and put a curse on these people, because they are too powerful for me. Perhaps then I will be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land. For I know that whoever you bless is blessed, and whoever you curse is cursed.”

Nothing and nobody can thwart God’s plans and purposes.

God had a plan and a purpose for His people. Now, Israel  is  camped  on  the  outskirts  of  Moab  along  the  borders.  Balak, the king of Moab, is concerned because he has heard of Israelites’ victories over their other enemies. Balak has a fear of the unknown and it causes him to act goofy. Do we stereotype people who are different from us? Are they scary to us because we do not understand their customs, language, dress? Deuteronomy 2:9, “Then the LORD said to me, “Do not harass the Moabites or provoke them to war, for I will not give you any part of their land. I have given Ar to the descendants of Lot as a possession.” Balak had nothing to fear – but he did not know that. He responds in a worldly way of solving problems. He contacts Balaam – a renowned diviner – to curse the Israelites. This was the way of the world at the time.

Numbers 22:6 “A people have come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and have settled next to me. Now come and put a curse on these people, because they are too powerful for me. Perhaps then I will be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land. For I know that whoever you bless is blessed, and whoever you curse is cursed.” This is Balak’s message to Balaam. It sounds oddly like the blessing Isaac speaks over Jacob in Genesis. Genesis 27:29b, “May those who curse you be cursed and those who bless you be blessed.”

God tells Balaam not to go. Numbers 22:12, “But God said to Balaam, “Do not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people, because they are blessed.” So Balak sends another envoy to Balaam imploring him to come and curse the Israelites. Balaam’s response is the same. Numbers 22:18, “But Balaam answered them, “Even if Balak gave me all the silver and gold in his palace, I could not do anything great or small to go beyond the command of the LORD my God.” From these words we might interpret that Balaam is a “Good Guy”. Far from it.

Joshua 13:22, “In addition to those slain in battle, the Israelites had put to the sword Balaam son of Beor, who practiced divination.

2 Peter 2:15-16, “They have left the straightway and wandered off to  follow  the  way  of  Balaam son  of  Bezer, who loved  the  wages  of  wickedness. But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey – an animal without speech – who spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.”

The Lord’s people were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the LORD in the Peor incident, so that a plague struck the LORD’s people. Balaam was used negotiating in the spiritual world. But he could not negotiate with God.

God is angry, and uses the donkey to block Balaam from his journey to Moab. The donkey speaks. And Balaam talks back to him. Talk about crazy!!!

Balaam was more stubborn than a mule. He was blind to the angel even though he has insight into the spiritual world.

God uses His sovereignty over creation to prove His power. Balaam is a professional spiritual manipulator. But that does not work with God.

God cannot be manipulated.

Nothing and nobody can thwart God’s plans and purposes. He is going to win.

Do my plans hit roadblocks? Do I try to negotiate with God? Do I try to rework the Scriptures to align with my plans? Am I stubborn? Are you stubborn? God will not mold His plans to mine.

Lord, please help me to submit to Your plans, will and purposes.

România, pe genunchi !!!

Trebuie să ne rugăm pentru păstorii (preoții) noștri !!!

Vă invit ca în fiecare săptămână să ne unim în rugăciune pentru păstori și preoți.

Dragi păstori (preoți), ne rugam ca potrivit cu bogatia slavei Sale, sa va intariti in putere, prin Duhul Sfant, in omul din launtru, asa incat Hristos sa locuiasca in inimile voastre prin credinta; pentruca, avand radacina si temelia pusa in dragoste, sa puteti pricepe impreuna cu biserica in care slujiti, care este largimea, lungimea, adancimea si inaltimea ca sa cunoasteti dargostea Domnului Hristos,  sa ajungeti plini de toata plinatatea Lui Dumnezeu.

Ne rugăm ca bunul Tată ceresc să vă ajute să fiți oameni  ai Cuvântului și ai rugăciunii, să rămâneți oameni curați, înțelepți, călăuziți de Duhul Sfânt, smeriți, harnici și roditori (roada Duhului, dar și suflete câștigate pentru Hristos și Împărăția Lui).

Să ne rugăm pentru soțiile și copiii lor. Să ne rugăm pentru toate relațiile lor și mai ales să aibă un grup de rugăciune care să îi susțină zilnic în rugăciune fiind o protecție și un suport spiritual pentru ei.

Ne mai rugăm așa cum știm și cum ne învață Duhul Sfânt.

The translation of the first part is as follows: Keep praising Jesus more and more, Give  God honor with your songs, call the martyrs, His heroes, walk with a cross in front of you. And the light of the Gospels is increasing. Live the Joy of heavens, the darkness is defeated by love and forgiveness, He gave us enlightenment, the pain and death cannot overcome us, Tell the Lord who is victorious over His enemies.

Saving faith

Faith has three parts that include both the act and scope of believing. These three parts may be called ‘knowledge, belief and trust’; ‘awareness, assent and dedication’; ‘content, consent, commitment’.

Content is the first thing. Faith rests upon knowledge. This is why it is important to teach even to very young children the basic Bible truths. Faith without content is not true faith at all. Faith is only as good as the object of our faith. Faith in our own goodness or actions cannot save us. Faith in a preacher or a church counts nothing. The object of our true faith must be Christ. Only He can save. We must know that Christ is true man and true God. He has reconciled us to God, our merciful Father. Christ takes our sin and gives us His life and His righteousness.

Consent is the second element. Biblical content of faith is important, but it is possible to know this content and not have saving faith. Faith must touch an individual personally so he/she personally agrees with it. The knowledge and faith that were absorbed into the mind need to be poured into the heart. The Word of God is received by faith when it takes root in the depth of the heart.

Commitment is the third element. Commitment is the most important of all. Faith is not merely assent to truths; it is commitment to Christ and trust in Him daily. He is the strong Savior. Even a weak faith may take hold of Him and live.

Salvation is to believe and receive, know and act, be and do.

Lord, I want to know You with my mind, with my heart and follow You daily. Please help me have a saving faith!

Geneza 1:1: ,,La început, Dumnezeu…”

Cartea Geneza ne ajută să-L cunoaştem pe Dumnezeu, să înţelegem începutul tuturor lucrurilor, căderea omului şi speranţa oferită de Dumnezeu omului decăzut. De ce vrea Dumnezeu să-L cunoaştem? Ca să înţelegem sursa înţelepciunii, a mângâierii, a speranţei. Dacă nu-L cunoaştem pe Dumnezeu, nu ne cunoaştem pe noi înşine, nu-i înţelegem pe alţii, nu cunoaştem Adevărul şi nu înţelegem viaţa în sine. Ce-ţi propui pentru acest an? Îţi vei deschide inima pentru ca Dumnezeu să-ţi vorbească? Vei asculta vocea lui Dumnezeu în acest an? Vei accepta invitaţia Lui de a-L cunoaşte? La care obiceiuri vei renunţa ca să ai mai mult timp pentru a-L cunoaşte pe Dumnezeu?

Dumnezeu doreşte să comunice cu oamenii prin Cuvântul Lui!

Cei care au început citirea Bibliei, au observat că ea cuprinde două părţi: Vechiul Testament şi Noul Testament. Deşi Biblia a fost scrisă de mai mulţi oameni într-o perioadă istorică mai lungă, în centrul acestei cărţi se găseşte o Persoană: Domnul Isus Hristos. În Vechiul Testament se aşteaptă venirea Lui, iar în Noul Testament ni se prezintă Persoana şi lucrarea Lui şi, de asemenea, ni se prezintă a doua Lui venire, timp în care El va domni fiindcă este Rege.

Geneza este prima carte a Bibliei din cele 66 de cărţi scrise de aproximativ 40 de scriitori, pe parcursul a 1500 de ani. Vorbim de mai mulţi scriitori, dar Autorul este unul singur – Dumnezeu.

Biblia are autoritate pentru că Autorul ei este Dumnezeu!

Biblia este adevărată pentru că Dumnezeu este Adevărul!

Biblia nu este o ficţiune, nici o culegere de alegorii, ci ea prezintă povestiri adevărate din vieţile oamenilor care au trăit pe pământ.

Biblia este unitară pentru că prezintă un singur adevăr de la începutul până la sfârşitul ei: „Istoria răscumpărării!”

Prin Biblie, Dumnezeu ni Se descoperă.

Omenirea a avut şi are în continuare o problemă: a rupt relaţia cu Creatorul. Domnul Isus a venit ca să refacă această relaţie. Vechiul Testament ne prezintă cine este şi ce face acest Răscumpărător (Domnul Isus Hristos).

Doamne, ajută-mă să-L cunosc pe Autorul acestei cărţi!

AM TRESĂRIT O CLIPĂ…

Am tresărit o clipă când am văzut lumini
Ce-aveau înfăţişarea petalelor de crini
Când au sosit, amarul mi-a dispărut rapid
Şi parcă am ieșit din necuprinsul vid.

Mi-au sesizat mirarea şi m-au atins uşor
Fineţea lor sublimă mi-a dat un sfânt fior,
Mi-au arătat comoara ce am pierdut-o ieri
Când am uitat de ziua superbei învieri.

Mi-au arătat ce-am strâns o vreme-ndelungată
Şi-apoi le-am mângâiat odată și-nc-odată
Torentul fericirii s-a răspândit prin vene
Apoi m-am dus în parc şi m-am plimbat alene.

Degeaba spus-au unii c-a fost închipuire
Născută din dorinţa de-a sta în Nemurire

Ce poate furniza o hrană consistentă.
