Do we value public perception and reputation of our churches? Do we value that more than we value purity and integrity of heart? Are we more impressed with our programs than we are desperate for the power of God?

Do we esteem communication skills more highly than we esteem faithfulness to the Scripture and proclaiming whatever truth needs to be said to the people of our day? Do we esteem natural talent and leadership gifts more than the anointing of the Spirit?

Charles Spurgeon said, “The world is always at peace with a lukewarm church, and such a church is always pleased with itself.”

Lord, have mercy on me, on my church, on Your Church!

Oh, I am desperately needy.

That’s the heart attitude God wants to hear.

I can’t make it on my own. Apart from You, Lord, I am lost, I am destitute. I am utterly, utterly dependent upon You.

I need Thee every hour.

Lord, it’s not my husband, it’s not my brother, it’s not my sister, it’s not the deacons, it’s not the pastor, it’s not the young people. It’s me, O Lord, standing in the need of prayer.

Oh God, how I pray that You would help us to see our spiritual need, to agree with You. Forgive us for being blind, for being self-deceived, for being deluded, for thinking we’re fine when You know the truth.

And oh God, open our eyes. Open our hearts. May we humble ourselves and agree with You. Then may we receive the prescription, the tonic, the provision that You have made to deliver us from our lukewarmness.

Lord, have mercy on us all.

I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.

Genesis 39:21-40:23

Genesis 39:21-23, “But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.”

God helps His children wherever they are: in prison or freedom, in wealth or poverty, health or sickness, for better or worse, in strength or weakness, in joy or in sorrow, in the mountains or in the valley; master or slave, loved or rejected, young or old, orphans or poor; at home or at work, in the field or on the road, on the rock or in the pit, in abundance or lack, in solitude or surrounded by friends, etc.

Joseph trusted God’s help. We are impressed by his attitude and character. We ask ourselves: What would I have done in his place? How would I have reacted? Would I have recognized God and trusted that He knows what He is doing through suffering? How would my child react? How did I prepare him/her for life? What knowledge does he/she have about God and suffering?

We cannot give our children a grateful heart and we cannot oblige them to assess the facts of others. Nevertheless, there are a few things that we can give to our children. Giving thanks and appreciation can be learned from early childhood, even if the child’s vocabulary is limited. For every good thing, a child must say, “Thank you”.

Do you teach your child to recognize the opportunities when he/she can be generous towards other people? Life is full of situations that can help you teach your child or others how to appreciate God’s creation and character, music and poetry, joy and laughter, work and leisure, people and activities, values ​​and priorities, friends and games, etc.

Moments of sadness and challenges are also opportunities to learn to trust in God. When we have to move to another city, we can meet new friends. When dad loses his job, we pray to experience the care of our Heavenly Father. God is always with us, even if we lose a loved one.

Teach your child some of the character traits from the bible stories. Try to make a game that would fix in the child’s mind a biblical truth. Teach your child to do nothing without prayer, because God hears prayer and helps. God can develop these qualities in your child: gratitude, respect, kindness, compassion, humility, joy, etc. But he/she needs your help and your prayers. Give him/her more love than money, things and toys. Love is never too much. There are a lot of things that can hinder someone from developing good attitudes. Remember that you must fulfill the basic needs of the child, not his/her whims. True satisfaction comes from humility to God and kindness to others. A thankful and happy heart is a treasure and a gift from the Lord!

You may ask your child to write a thank you note every day and keep them all as souvenirs. For his/her birthday, you can make a game that could include five ways to appreciate others. This will help your child to think positively about others. Do not allow discouragement in your heart when the child forgets to be thankful, but pray to God for patience. Do not be ashamed when the child does not want to be thankful, but continue to help him/her learn his/her lesson. Prepare your child to receive the gift of salvation and to be thankful to God.

Ask the Lord to give you a grateful heart!

Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of my fathers and my God, with joy and thanksgiving I worship You because You blessed me beyond my expectations. I thank You for talking to me. You’re with me and You continue to bless me. You showed Your mercy to me, You protected me, You saved me, You defended me, You encouraged me, You raised me up, You took care of me all the days of my life, You delivered me from evil, You showed me Your kindness, Your love, Your faithfulness, Your majesty.

Thank You for revealing Your will to me. You speak to me through your Word, You teach me how to pray and how to rejoice in worship and ministry. I want to be obedient and humble, to live by faith, to the end of my life when You will give me the crown which never withers, the crown of a winner.

I wish to leave a legacy of faith to those who come after me: a life of love, faith and obedience to You. You have grace for me every day. You fill my life with peace and meaning, for my heart is surrendered to You. You help me not to be afraid of famine and evil, for You are with me and You teach me to enjoy my relationship with You. You speak to me in times of crisis and I remember Your promises. I praise You because You never abandon me. I am Your child! I am glad to be in Your care!

Lord, You are with me always to bless me!

Genesis 25:1-18

Genesis 25:8, “Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.”

1 Chronicles 29:28, “And he (David) died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor.”

What did God say about the death of Abraham and David? What do you want God to say about your death? Do you want to die rich? Do you want to die full of wealth?

David and Abraham died full of wealth. They both had gold and silver. David wanted to build the temple for God. God said not to build a temple for Him, but to be a temple for Him. We do not need big buildings (temples), but holy bodies, which are temples for the Holy Spirit. Although Abraham and David had gold and silver, their wealth consisted of something else: faith, family, freedom, fruit, God’s grace and His appreciation and favor.

Faith is the most precious thing. David and Abraham had faith. We see this in Scripture. And I am rich too, because I have faith.

Family is a precious thing. Abraham and David loved their families. They suffered for their families, but their attention was not on the bad things that had been done, but on what God has done. And I am rich too, because I have a family. I can say that I would not give my family for an entire city. I’m not ashamed of my family, even though we have problems. Every family has problems small or large. Let us not be ashamed, but confess our sins and move on. David’s confession of sin remained written for those who read the Bible (Psalms 51). Even the fall of David is a great blessing for us, because it teaches us what to do when we fall. What a great blessing it is to work with my family! I am staying in my family and I don’t run away when the devil urges me to leave my family. I‘m rich because I have nieces and nephews. Maybe you say that you do not have family; but you have a church. It can be your family. I‘m rich because I have a church. I am staying in my church and I don’t run away when the devil urges me to leave my church. If God gave you a family, a church, the Holy Spirit as Comforter, friends in the church, health and so on, how do you thank God for the wealth you have? How thankful are you for your friendship with Jesus Christ? What a wonderful friend and brother we have in Christ!

Freedom is wealth. God has made ​​us free through faith in Christ. The truth sets us free. I‘m rich because I’ve got the freedom of Christ.

The fruit that we bear is wealth. Abraham has left us a legacy. His faith is described in Scripture and we are exhorted to have faith as Abraham had. Through him, we are blessed. David bore fruit in his writings. What a wonderful fruit we have in Psalms 23! We want to see others saved by faith. We’re happy to help, to encourage, to bless. It’s hard work. We pray for all of our family, neighbors, colleagues, and people around us to be saved. Lord, make me rich in good deeds and prayer.

The grace of God is wealth. Abraham and David were appreciated by God. They asked for forgiveness for their sins and received forgiveness. We live in God’s grace. He is good and wants us to do well. Any parent has grace towards his/her  children. Our Heavenly Father blesses us with His grace, His appreciation. We are glad to be so blessed. God blessed me in many ways. I’m so rich. I am blessed beyond measure. He gave me more than I dreamed and thought. He gave me things that I do not deserve. 

May your heart be filled with the true wealth!

Mesajul Domnului Isus

Apocalipsa 16:1-21

Apocalipsa 16:15: „Iată, Eu vin ca un hoţ. Ferice de cel ce veghează şi îşi păzeşte hainele, ca să nu umble gol şi să i se vadă ruşinea!”

Domnul Isus vorbește despre revenirea Lui, marele eveniment spre care se îndreaptă istoria. Mesajul Domnului este puternic și personal. Este cea de-a treia binecuvântare: ferice de cine veghează și își păzește hainele. Credinciosul trebuie să fie alert pentru că Domnul va veni dintr-odată, ca un hoț – adică pe neașteptate, fără nici o avertizare. Nimeni nu știe ziua sau ora, ci numai Tatăl (Matei 24:43; Marcu 13:32-37; 1 Tesaloniceni 5:2; 2 Petru 3:10). Domnul Isus a promis binecuvântări celor ce-L așteaptă, celor ce veghează și sunt gata să-L întâmpine. Ești gata? Îl aștepți pe Domnul Isus? Veghezi și te păzești de rău?

Domnul Isus ne cere să ne păstrăm hainele cu noi, ca nu cumva să fim găsiți goi la venirea Lui. Îmbrăcămintea noastră este caracterul nostru și viața transformată de Domnul (Apocalipsa 3:4, 8; 19:8). Cei ce s-au predat Domnului și Salvatorului sunt iertați de păcatele lor, sunt îmbrăcați în neprihănirea lui Hristos și declarați drepți de Însuși Dumnezeu (Galateni 3:26-27). De fapt a fi gata pentru revenirea Domnului Isus înseamnă a te pocăi de păcatele săvârșite, a crede Cuvântul și a primi mântuirea oferită de Domnul Isus.

Domnul Isus ne poruncește să ne îmbrăcăm în caracterul Lui. Romani 13:11-14: ,,Şi aceasta cu atât mai mult, cu cât ştiţi în ce împrejurări ne aflăm: este ceasul să vă treziţi în sfârşit din somn; căci acum mântuirea este mai aproape de noi decât atunci când am crezut. Noaptea aproape a trecut, se apropie ziua. Să ne desbrăcăm, deci, de faptele întunericului, şi să ne îmbrăcăm cu armele luminii. Să trăim frumos, ca în timpul zilei, nu în chefuri şi în beţii; nu în curvii şi în fapte de ruşine; nu în certuri şi în pizmă; ci îmbrăcaţi-vă în Domnul Isus Hristos, şi nu purtaţi grijă de firea pământească, ca să-i treziţi poftele.” Și Petru ne scrie: 1 Petru 1:13: ,,De aceea, încingeţi-vă coapsele minţii voastre, fiţi treji, şi puneţi-vă toată nădejdea în harul, care vă va fi adus, la arătarea lui Isus Hristos.”

            Și Ioan a așteptat ziua revenirii Domnului: 1 Ioan 2:28: ,,Şi acum, copilaşilor, rămâneţi în El, pentru ca atunci când Se va arăta El, să avem îndrăzneală, şi, la venirea Lui, să nu rămânem de ruşine şi depărtaţi de El.” Ioan ne îndeamnă să căutăm curăția: 1 John 3:1-3: ,,Vedeţi ce dragoste ne-a arătat Tatăl, să ne numim copii ai lui Dumnezeu! Şi suntem. Lumea nu ne cunoaşte, pentru că nu L-a cunoscut nici pe El. Prea iubiţilor, acum suntem copii ai lui Dumnezeu. Şi ce vom fi, nu s-a arătat încă. Dar ştim că atunci când Se va arăta El, vom fi ca El; pentru că Îl vom vedea aşa cum este. Oricine are nădejdea aceasta în El, se curăţeşte, după cum El este curat.”

Doamne, ajută-mă să veghez ca să fiu gata pentru Împărăția Ta!

Apocalipsa 13:1-10

Apocalipsa 13:8: ,,Şi toţi locuitorii pământului i se vor închina, toţi aceia al căror nume n-a fost scris, de la întemeierea lumii, în cartea vieţii Mielului, care a fost junghiat.”

În cartea vieții Mielului sunt înscriși toți cei răscumpărați, care recunosc Jertfa Domnului Isus Hristos, cred că El este Mielul lui Dumnezeu care ridică păcatul lumii și Îl urmează. Încă înainte de întemeierea lumii, Dumnezeu a avut un plan și îl duce la bun sfârșit. Cunoști planul de răscumpărare pentru omenire? Cui îi vei spune săptămâna aceasta despre Domnul Isus și Jertfa Lui?

Dumnezeu dă oportunități fiecărui credincios ca să-L onoreze și să-L slujească. El dă fiecărui credincios putere ca să biruiască răul prin bine. Care situație rea din viața ta trebuie să o rezolvi cu răbdare și credincioșie față de Domnul și învățăturile Lui? Ai un copil care L-a respins pe Dumnezeu și a apucat calea lumii? Ai probleme în căsătoria ta? Durerile din trup îți spun zilnic că trăim într-o lume decăzută? Te-a ajuns singurătatea pentru că stai de partea adevărului? Dumnezeu permite suferința în viața celui credincios, dar este cu el ca să-l ajute să rămână credincios până la capăt. Loialitatea noastră față de Dumnezeu atrage opoziție din partea celui rău și multă suferință, dar Dumnezeu ne dă curaj, ne mărește credința și ne face o binecuvântare pentru alții.

Faptul că suntem scriși în cartea vieții Mielului este o mare asigurare veșnică și o adâncă bucurie eternă. Cum trăiești viața în lumina acestui adevăr? Îți dezvolți răbdarea și credincioșia față de Domnul? Trăiești Cuvântul? Suntem chemați să îndurăm, să rămânem credincioși tari prin puterea Duhului Sfânt.

Dumnezeu l-a biruit pe Satan și dă putere credincioșilor ca să îndure greutățile vieții până la capăt, să rămână credincioși loiali Împărăției Lui și să aștepte venirea Lui printr-o purtare sfântă și evlavioasă. Care este lucrul cel mai greu pe care Domnul ți-l cere să-l înduri chiar acum? Prin puterea noastră vom cădea, dar Domnul ne-a promis puterea învierii Lui. Îți vei păstra privirea la Domnul mai mult decât la problemele tale? Te vei ruga pentru tine și vei cere și altora să se roage pentru tine ca să fii răbdătoare și credincioasă până la sfârșit?

Cum este închinarea ta? Cui și cum te închini? Felul nostru de închinare ne marchează viața. Ce ți-a marcat viața? Închinarea adevărată marchează viața de credință. Ce spune închinarea ta despre relația ta cu Dumnezeu?

Doamne, ajută-mă să-Ți rămân credincioasă prin greutățile vieții!
